Rory unfortunately developed lung cancer and was diagnosed shortly after his 13th birthday. He had 12 wonderful weeks post diagnosis where he did all the things he loved: particularly going for walks where he would usually be found crashing through the undergrowth, digging a hole or swinging from a tree branch.
Rory was a strapping red and white tri border collie who matured into a stunning lad. Growing up he had a tonne of motivation and loved any task that he was set. Even in his final months he was still eager to please and work for treats. He was a very loving boy when at home, but when he was out training or walking he was very independent and liked to think that he was in charge.
Rory was trained in obedience, flyball and agility. Rory was clicker trained and was very food and toy motivated and picked tasks up very quickly, making him a pleasure to train. He loved flyball and was very fast and keen to run. However, Rory's training in agility is where he excelled. During 2011 Rory had gone from competing in Grade 1 to Grade 5. 2012 was no disappointment as Rory won into grade 6 and had 2 wins towards achieving grade 7. Half way through the 2013 show season and Rory had gained his other 2 wins, progressing to grade 7.
2015 saw Rory compete internationally for the first time at Border Collie Classic and Agility by Night, held in Luxembourg. While out there he ran extremely well, narrowly missing out on making a final by one place! In 2016 he was retired from agility, while still winning classes at nearly 10 years of age.
Rory enjoyed his final years doing whatever he pleased to make himself happy. He loved the beach and annually went on holiday to Pembroke to enjoy the waves and sand.
He was Michelle’s once in a life time companion and will be sorely missed. Run free precious boy.
